Saturday, June 4 is National Health and Fitness Day!

Hey Canada,

We’re on a mission to make Canada the fittest nation in the world by 2030, and we need your help. Saturday, June 4 is National Health and Fitness Day this year, and we’re inviting all Canadians from coast to coast to get up, get out and get active throughout the week of May 30 to June 5.

Take a friend for a stroll around the block. Wheel to the park for a bit of fresh air. Take a break with your family to dance, skip or play. Share your activities with other Canadians using the hashtag #LetsMoveCanada. Why? Because exercise is good for our physical and mental wellbeing and contributes to lifelong health and well-ness. And it’s just plain fun!

Join in and you’ll be part of a massive movement around movement. Find out how non-profits, municipalities, ambassadors and other organizations can get involved and connect with millions of Canadians via our network and social media channels—and #LetsMoveCanada together!

Our Background

How We Got Here

The National Health and Fitness Day Act, Bill S-211, became law in December 2014.

Canada is facing an inactivity crisis.  Daily physical activity is on the decline and preventable illness is on the rise.  It's time to get up, get out, and get active!  National Health and Fitness Day (NHFD) is an initiative to challenge Canada to become the Fittest Nation on Earth, starting with making one day, the first Saturday in June, the day when Canadians get out and get active in any way they wish.

With the passage of the National Health and Fitness Day Act in 2014, Canada gained a Day to celebrate.
