Swim Day on the Hill
Swim Day on the Hill brings together Parliamentarians with representatives from water safety organizations for a meeting on Parliament Hill.
The goal of the event is to promote swimming as a great form of physical activity, and to raise awareness about the importance of safety when swimming or boating.
A companion event to National Health and Fitness Day, which this year is Saturday, June 1st, Swim Day on the Hill partners with YMCA/YWCA Canada, Canadian Red Cross, Swimming Canada, and Royal Life Saving Society Canada.
The event, which falls before the May Long Weekend, highlights the need for education surrounding swimming and boating safety. While these are popular summer activities, tragically there are over five hundred fatalities in Canada every year that are largely preventable.
